Locking to incoming timecode TC 4 Months ago
I've got session in a couple weeks where I need to lock to incoming timecode via ISDN. This is mainly to drive picture for a remote mix session.... I was wondering what people are doing to achieve this. I notice the new Steinberg sync box does not have TC I/O...I have a couple of workarounds but they are not very elegant. one is to just use a Doremi V1 chasing and one is to use an old Fairlight MFX3 which will chase and spit out machine control.....

Any help with this would be appreciated

thanks felix

If you are using a Mac, you can use "SMPTE Reader." You can input SMPTE to any of your systems audio inputs and the program will output MTC to any of your Midi outputs. Route the signal to a Midi input by using a midi cable.

You can then select MTC in Nuendo Synchronization Setup, and select the input that is receiving the MTC signal. This actually works pretty well, especially as Nuendo allows you to establish an offset if necessary.

Great..That seems like a decent solution...I'm not on a Mac but I've got some old outboard Midi sync boxes that should do the trick......I'll give it a shot....

thanks

We use the SR15 Brainstorm Distripalyzer to jam sync income code for ISDN sessions.
