Hello all -

Noticing some strange behavior on my final mix files that I've been outputting from N4.3. And editor pointed out that the waveforms of my 2 pop files, which are created in Nuendo's signal generator (1kHz, -20dBFS), are kind of whacked out. When I import the mix and put it up to my 2 pop track, the waveforms are far from identical:



Any ideas why the waveform would be fading in at the top and have the spike at the end? I'm using plugs on my master bus, but I've never seen this happen with any of my other files out of other DAWs.

Yes that is weird. On the other hand you'd be amazed at what sort of 2pops I see on things delivered for a mix... with reverb, without reverb, clipped, too low, set anywhere BUT at 2 seconds from the ffof...

Your one actually looks longer than the original, after the processing chain. Do you only have one Nuendo rig running? Sometimes with multiple rigs (or PT, or other tape or HD based recorders) you can get small LTC offsets on Play (no, that is NOT good) that results in 2pops being 1.5 frames in length.

Thanks for the response, Steve. Yep, only one N4 rig going. It is a little strange.

I did another test:

I first exported my mixdown with the two pop, the result being the brown-colored waveform window in the image below. I cut those bad 2 pops off of the files and replaced them with new accurate 1-frame 2 pops. I then bypassed my main bus processing and re-exported the newly exported file (brown window). The 2 pop was accurate and identical to the 2 pop from the original source track.

So is it a Waves thing, or just master bus processing in general? Stay tuned.
