One thing to watch out for with MacDrive: if you're using Norton Ghost to secure your drives, the PC will reboot as soon as you plug a Mac drive into it. Been there, done that...

Otherwise MacDrive is a real time saver! Watch out also for some DVDs that come from the picture editing room: you might want to chose "show Mac files" for the DVD before copying your QT movie to the PC, otherwise it can be unreadable (I cant really explain why though, it just f*cks up).

I'm brand new to the PC/Nuendo world (just built my first/ I've always run Nuendo on Mac) and I was wondering if you advise using "MacDrive" on XP Pro. I installed XP Pro so I wouldn't have any issues with with quicktime and Steinberg Surround Edition.

1. Will I be be able to use my old Mac production Raid in it's current format (Mac Format) as my master PC Production drive, or will I have to remove all project files and reformat the Raid under XP Pro?

2. Will I be able to run old projects created in OS X in XP Pro?

Thank you,

Hi Edwardo, and sorry for the delay in responding.
I am using this on XP Pro SP2 right now, and it is no problem at all - completely seamless. You simply read mac HDD as if they are part of your XP system.

As for the main question, I have no idea - I have never tried that.
(I don't have any Nuendo projects on a Mac HDD to test this out.)

Neil,

Thank you for your response. I'm hoping to purchase this product soon and put it to work. I'm glad I'm not in too much of a rush to use it. It seems like a great tool for any production house. Especially for guys like me who's production house resides in my house.

I hope you have a great week,

E. Santiago
