Network, Shared Projects 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hi All,

I'm a recent convert from Protools to Nuendo. I am looking for more information about the network capabilities. We have been experimenting with Sharing sessions over a LAN. We start with the same session (identical) and set the project permissions to allow us both read and write capabilities. We are able to each cut effects and then commit changes. Although sometimes when we commit it seems to wipe out each others changes. We have tried changing the permissions for different tracks and cutting on separate tracks. Is anyone else using these features, and do you have any hints or tips about good ways to collaborate on the same session? It seems like a great powerful feature once we understand how to use it properly.

Thanks,

Scott Jennings

It's best to communicate and tell each other what areas you are working it to avoid that.
I'd say it more used to bring together Dialog, FX, Music and SD editors to update a project more then 2 FX editors working at the same time.

It is awesome and I would love for it to work over the WEB also so I can start a sweat shop of editors in China........hehehehehe
kidding....
well, may be not..

Steve!
Nuendo networking feature DO work over the internet.
Just need to open one tcp port in your DSL/firewall/router/NAT gateway

Got an Instructional video anywhere how to do it?

BTW....We just figured out how to access Codemeter Dongles thru the Web!
Syncroft(eLicensor) and iLok are truly in the dark ages still by not even offering local Network dongle support!

Yep!
Codemeter is great.
I know eLicenser was working on network support.
But I guess it was put on hold when Steinberg bought them.
I'm sure it will surface though.

Will try to make a setup guide for Nuendo network over internet.
(Think the manual cover it OK though)
